Edward Bass- The Man behind Great Films

Edward Bass once said that it’s very easy to not be in the production and this is indeed proven by his great ability to produce films. In fact, he was able to reach 5 films independently produced by him in just 2 years which is something that not too many producers had achieved. He was able to become the producer that he is now because of the many challenges he had to face in his life. This is what gave him the drive and the insight to excel in this hard industry of filming. He has a complex personality and you can see this complexity in his films and plays too. He is quite the opinionated producer and he is well determined to make a film really good which is why he knows how to find all the right actors for each role. No role is too small to find a good actor to really make its mark.

Edward Bass became a producer not because of mere luck but because he was indoctrinated to this industry as a young kid. In his early life he was able to meet some big named celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Harry Belafonte, Elvis Presley and many others because his parents would often bring him to have a backstage visit with these actors in between their weekends and ski trips in New York and in Las Vegas. He even met Milton Berle when he was a kid who he eventually managed. While he was still in high school, his parents would often have an impromptu meetings and concerts at their home with the local celebrities in Beverly Hills.

Eventually, Edward Bass became a manager and he managed talents from boxers and even ballerinas. He was the manager of Julio Caesar Chavez that made him the highest priced boxer in the super middleweight division in the sport’s history. Edward also started to produce shows such as events and musicals. He produced Stardust, a musical with Toni Tenille and Hinton Battle. He also was able to arrange for Gerald Ford and wife for their presentation with Stanley Kramer with all the democrats present in the Roxbury Nightclub venue. Incredibly, he was the first liberal to be with them.

Edward eventually produced many films including Bobby, While She Was Out, The Killing jar and soon he will be filming his directorial debut film, Belle. It’s going to be an exciting film that many will surely enjoy.
